RECORD STORE DAY - WHAT TO EXPECT!
Record Store Day is April 12, 2025! Here's what you need to know about what to expect at Monster Music & Movies!
The first thing you need to know is there are approximately 400 exclusive new vinyl releases, available ONLY at independent record stores like Monster. Check out the full release list here: https://monstermusicsc.com/Genre/696203. We order every single title, and generally we have abundant quantity of most items. Availability does vary, though - there are always a few titles that are uber limited but very in-demand. We might order 20, and receive two. We wish we could materialize more out of thin air, but it is what it is. Hopefully there are a few things you'll find that you'll be happy about!
The second important thing to know is that it's our biggest sale of the year!
Storewide sale: 20% off all new vinyl, CD, DVD & BluRay (excluding RSD titles and items already on sale), 40% off all used vinyl, CD, DVD etc, 30% off posters, shirts, stickers, & other pop culture items, 15% off turntables and vinyl accessories.
Sidewalk sale: Thousands of used records & CDs for just $0.25 each!

RECORD STORE DAY EXCLUSIVES: Quantities are limited, thus we must impose a limit of one per title per person. There can be no holding, reserving, or preordering of Record Store Day releases. All sales will be first-come, first-served. Staff will be present on the sales floor fielding questions and helping you find what you're looking for.
LINE RULES: We open at 8 am. The line begins whenever the first person shows up, usually in the very early hours Friday morning / Thursday night. No setting up phantom chairs & showing up at the last minute to claim your place. No leaving the line & coming back at the last minute, no reserving places in line for people who aren’t there. Please have basic common sense and respect for others. Leaving the line for a quick bathroom break is fine, but leaving for breakfast and coming back after an hour, not so much. We will have a portajon on site!
CAPACITY: At no time will we allow more than 100 customers in the store. At opening, to ensure all RSDBF releases are fully browsable, we will allow 75 people in the door. When one checks out and exits, another may enter. The line will move pretty quickly, so if you're not among the first 75, you won't have to wait long. We will have bins more spaced out than ever, so there will not be a scrum over a single area as much, we hope.
WHAT ABOUT ONLINE SALES OF BLACK FRIDAY RELEASES? Anything still in stock at the end of the day will be made available on our website at 8 am on Sunday 4/13. More info on that to be posted later!
IS YOUR STOREWIDE SALE ALSO GOOD ONLINE? Yes, the 20% off new / 40% off used will be good online. However, we're going to be pretty busy, so we may not be pulling any orders that day. Processing time could be a little longer than normal.
IF YOU SELL OUT OF AN RSD TITLE, WILL YOU GET IT BACK IN? It's possible. We won't know for sure in most cases, but we will try. The ones that are super limited, it's probably not happening. We're pretty stealthy, though, so if there's a chance, we'll probably be on top of it.
