Over their career, Cold War Kids have fielded music’s seismic shifts while simultaneously sticking to their own game plan. Over the course of a dozen releases – including seven studio albums, multiple EPs, and a live album on majors and indies alike, non-stop tours and the festival circuit’s biggest stages, massive radio, sales & streaming successes, the band have become a major part of the modern landscape. Their new album New Age Norms 1, with lead single “Complainer” is the next chapter with the approach of taking apart the idea of what the band is and just trying to take the doors off a bit to see where it can go.

The latest chapter in the highly acclaimed Bob Dylan Bootleg Series revisits Dylan's pivotal musical journeys to Nashville, from 1967 to 1969, focusing on previously unavailable recordings made with Johnny Cash and unreleased tracks from the John Wesley Harding, Nashville Skyline, and Self Portrait sessions. LP 1 finds Dylan in Columbia's Studio A in Nashville recording alternate versions of compositions written for John Wesley Harding (October 17 and November 6, 1967) and Nashville Skyline (February 13-14, 1969) while introducing a new song "Western Road" (a Nashville Skyline outtake). LP's 2 and 3 are centered around Dylan's collaborations with American music icon Johnny Cash including the much sought-after Columbia Studio A sessions and on-stage performances at the Ryman Auditorium (May 1, 1969) for the recording of the premiere episode of The Johnny Cash Show (originally broadcast on ABC-TV on June 7, 1969). LP 3 closes with tracks recorded on May 17, 1970 with Grammy Award-winning bluegrass banjo legend Earl Scruggs for the PBS television special, "Earl Scruggs: His Family and Friends" (originally aired January 1971).
Single Disc, 180 Gram Black LP, Standard Single Sleeve Jacket, Printed Inner Sleeve
From Out Of Nowhere is the new album from Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and music legend Jeff Lynne, and follows up a remarkable run of sold out European and American tours. Jeff Lynne’s ELO, whose music has touched fans deeply across three generations now, has found himself in recent years at the peak of his powers as a songwriter, musician and producer. This new collection features a buoyant title song which opens the ten-track record including the wistful “Help Yourself” to the celebratory “Down Came the Rain” to the churning rocker “One More Time” to the sweet closer, “Songbird.”
As does its predecessor, 2015’s Alone in the Universe, From Out Of Nowhere shows Lynne finding new facets to his signature sound, at once drawing on his globally loved legacy and forging new paths in both sounds and emotions. Once again, he plays nearly every note of the music on guitars, bass, piano, drums, keyboards and vibes, as well as singing all of the lead and layered harmony vocals. Steve Jay, who also engineered the album, adds some percussion.

Nirvana's classic MTV Unplugged in New York album is getting a 25th anniversary vinyl reissue. Marking the iconic lives set's first pressing as a double LP, the new edition features five rehearsal performances that were previously available on only the DVD release.
Among the rehearsals – which were previously only available as bonus content on the MTV Unplugged in New York – is a different take on the David Bowie cover “The Man Who Sold the World,” a version that finds both Nirvana and the production team finding their footing ahead of the concert. Rehearsal versions of “Polly,” “Pennyroyal Tea,” “Come As You Are” and the Meat Puppets’ “Plateau” are also included on the vinyl’s Side D.
The Hollywood legend, coolest man on the planet and purveyor of fine jazz will release his second album in November on Decca Records. And this time he’s bringing his friends. Jeff has assembled an extraordinary gang of vocalists from all walks of musical life, some of whom are revealing their jazz voices for the very first time. The feel good jazz album of the year, featuring singers Sharon Van Etten, Fiona Apple, Inara George, Jeff Goldblum & Anna Calvi.
The Rolling Stones’ groundbreaking multi-platinum selling album Let It Bleed was released in late 1969, charting at #1 in the UK and #3 in the US. The Rolling Stones, at this point already a critically and commercially dominant force, composed and recorded their eighth long player (tenth for the U.S.) amidst both geopolitical and personal turmoil. The second of four Rolling Stones albums made with producer Jimmy Miller (Traffic, Blind Faith), Let It Bleed perfectly captures the ominous spirit of the times with “Gimme Shelter,” the opening track.
The Let It Bleed (50th Anniversary Edition) single 180g LP includes the stereo version of the album, with restored original artwork and printed inner sleeve. The 2019 stereo remaster has been engineered by eleven-time Grammy®-winning mastering engineer Bob Ludwig.
This title was recorded live at the historic Village Vanguard in NYC in the Fall of 2018 during Jon Batiste’s residency at the legendary space. It is the follow up to “Anatomy of Angels’, which is part 1 of this 2 part series. The music on this release is original, instrumental music (other than “Soulful” which is a tribute cover to Ray Hargrove) showcasing Batiste’s virtuosic and uplifting talent he uses to command a room, and an iconic one at that.
Japanese Wallpaper is Gab Strum, Melbourne-based dream pop producer, songwriter and artist. Gab blends shimmery synths, downtempo beats, and electronic influences with introspective, coming of age song themes to craft his brand of indie pop. Glow is the debut album from Japanese Wallpaper about navigating the simultaneously beautiful and incredibly awkward phase that is one's late teens, growing up and trying to figure out your place in the world. Produced by Grammy-winning producer Ben H. Allen (Walk the Moon, Animal Collective, Gnarls Barkley, Kaiser Chiefs, Cut Copy, Washed Out, Neon Indian),
"When people listen to this record, I want them to know that I see them and hear them," said Lambert. "I feel you, because I'm just a girl from East Texas, writing about all the things that go on in my world and in the worlds of people around me. I want people to get along, you know, just be who you are, own it and move on from the moments you couldn t live in." Her first collaboration with producer Jay Joyce, Wildcard moves from fraught, taut rock & roll to gentle folk, classic Wurlitzer country and a bit of funky gospel with Lambert's signature wit and tongue-in-cheek humor permeating throughout.
The Mavericks are masters of country-latino-rock'n'roll. They rode high in the country and rock charts of the '90s with culture-crossing hits like 'What A Crying Shame"" and ""All You Ever Do Is Bring Me Down"". In 2004 they went on hiatus to explore new musical avenues. But since a reunion in 2012, the band has reestablished itself as one of the most exciting and joyfully entertaining acts on the touring circuit. Now, on their 30th anniversary as a band, they're back to remind the world why they're so good.
Newly expanded 3CD/1LP set that includes the original studio album – and the B-side “Who Scared You” – newly remastered by Bruce Botnick, The Doors’ longtime engineer and mixer. The collection is a limited edition of 15,000 individually numbered copies and also includes the original album on 180-gram vinyl along with liner notes by noted rock journalist David Fricke.
The core of the new collection is comprised of more than a dozen unreleased songs. Among the highlights are stripped down “Doors Only” versions of five tracks where the horns and strings have been removed (“Tell All The People,” “Touch Me,” “Wishful Sinful,” “Runnin’ Blue,” and “Who Scared You.”) The set also features three of those stripped-back versions with new guitar parts added by Robby Krieger (“Touch Me,” “Wishful Sinful,” and “Runnin’ Blue).
The collection also uncovers three songs from studio rehearsals – with Ray Manzarek (a.k.a. Screamin’ Ray Daniels) on vocals – that include an early version of “Roadhouse Blues,” a song that would be released the following year on Morrison Hotel. These three songs include newly recorded bass parts by Robert DeLeo of Stone Temple Pilots, who joined Krieger and John Densmore at a tribute concert for Manzarek in 2016, three years after the organist died of cancer. Manzarek’s take on “Roadhouse Blues” is available now on all digital download and streaming services.
A trio of studio outtakes collected on the set’s final disc feature the much-bootlegged, hour-long jam, “Rock Is Dead,” which appears here in its entire, surviving form for the first time ever. The track finds The Doors riffing through the entire history of rock ’n’ roll, from early delta blues through surf music, ending with the death of rock.
Jay and Silent Bob Reboot is an upcoming 2019 American comedy film written, directed, edited, and starring Kevin Smith. It is intended to be the seventh film in the View Askewniverse. The film also stars Jason Mewes, and features Smith regulars, including Jason Lee, Brian O’Halloran, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. It is scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States on October 15, 2019.
Enter Networker, the new album by Omni and first with indie giant Sub Pop Records. Their sound is still defined by sparse drums, locked-in bass, blistering guitar, and nonchalant, yet assured vocals, but from the first notes of "Sincerely Yours" you'll immediately notice that Networker sounds much cleaner and more "HI-FI" than their prior two albums, Deluxe (2016) and Multi-task (2017). The departure in fidelity suits the new record and allows the listener to enjoy the nuances of their meticulous arrangements. Don't worry, the riffs of Gang of Four and Wire are still present, but the production is more lush and the harmony is even more expansive. Despite nods to the sounds of the ’70s and ’80s what comes through is a record fully rooted in the here and now. Thematically, this is apparent on the title track "Networker" taking a candid snapshot of the “digital you” aspect of life in the age of the internet. The otherwise fun romp “Skeleton Key” also acknowledges the “direct message and obsessive” side of social media with lines like “if you don't like what you see, the pretty face on the screen, scroll on by...” Networker was written half between tours and half during recording sessions. The band, Philip Frobos on bass/vocals and Frankie Broyles on guitars/drums/keys, returned with longtime collaborator Nathaniel Higgins to the studio in South Georgia where they also recorded Multi-task and most recent single "Delicacy." In this case, the “studio” is a cabin near Vienna, GA (pronounced Vye-anna) that was built by Frankie Broyles’ great-grandparents in the 1940s. The band completed four sessions between November 2018 and April 2019. Omni hit their stride in the cabin with songs such as "Moat,” which cruises along at a nice mid-tempo clip with sounds that are maybe piano or maybe the “behind the bridge” strings of a Jaguar a la Sonic Youth or This Heat. "Blunt Force" provides a nice contrast to some of the more upbeat cuts, getting jazzy with it’s less traditional arrangement and psychedelic outro. Overall, Networker is simultaneously fun, catchy, and contains some truly impressive musicianship. This combo is especially hard to pull off as bands that are great players often don’t have great or memorable songs. Omni and Nathaniel Higgins have done a stellar job of reigning in their diverse influences into a cohesive record by curating their sounds into a tight package that leaves you just on the cusp of understanding where the band is coming from, while still feeling like you’re hearing something totally fresh. While their earlier records had more of a “post-punk” sound, Networker is an amalgamation of the best sounds of the ’70s and ’80s, all arranged with (mostly) guitars, bass, and drums for our contemporary age, and it really works! There are hooks everywhere, vocal and instrumental, that will leave you humming along, even during the first listen. As Philip Frobos says in “Present Tense,” “guess who’s on my mind right now?” Well, Omni’s on mine and will be on yours soon. -Scott Munro, Preoccupations 2019

Frail Body is a hardcore/punk band from Rockford, IL that embodies the spirit and soul of what many define as "screamo". A Brief Memoriam combines a new four-song recording session with their sought after At Peace session into one proper album. Both sessions were recorded by engineer Zack Farrar at Choir Room Audio. A-side opener "Pastel" erupts with unhinged emotion driven by discordant guitars and hyper-speed drumming. This leads to the powerful "Your Death Makes Me Wish Heaven Was Real" a moving song of mourning and remembrance. "Aperture" then explores concepts of identity and growth amid a tangle of beautiful musical debris. Lastly, the poignant "Tradition in Verses" unfurls with a ground shaking emotion that is hard to capture in words. The B-side of A Brief Memoriam is comprised of their incredible At Peace session; a recording that shows Frail Body even in their earliest state was a heartfelt, creative force.
