Ten Bands One Cause

Ten Bands One Cause 2018

Four years ago, the charity initiative Ten Bands One Cause began with a diverse array of artists releasing 10 albums in limited quantities on pink vinyl with the goal of raising awareness for Gilda’s Club NYC, a charity that provides free support for everyone living with cancer along with their families and friends.

The Ten Bands One Cause program, which includes notable past participants Run The Jewels , Red Hot Chili Peppers , Sturgill Simpson , Jason Isbell , The Black Keys , and Anthrax , coincides with National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. Since 2014, nearly $200,000 has been raised for Gilda’s Club NYC.

Starting on Vinyl Tuesday September 25th and running through October 26th , The Orchard will release a fifth annual run of pink vinyl, featuring titles by Silversun Pickups, Modest Mouse, Local Natives, Black Moth Super Rainbow, EL-P, Tyler Childers, Soccer Mommy, Daryl Hall & John Oates, The All-American Rejects and The Rocky Horror Picture Show Soundtrack. These limited releases will be available for purchase at vinyl-selling music retailers nationwide, and proceeds benefit Gilda's Club NYC.

“We're happy that a pink vinyl of our first record can be a part of Gilda Club's mission to fight cancer and the anxieties and difficulties it brings. Thank you to Gilda's Club for doing this work, and to the brave people fighting cancer everywhere. Cancer has affected us deeply and personally. You are not alone.” - Local Natives

"My mother beat breast cancer, so this one's for mama. Glad to be part of this project." - Tyler Childers

“We’ve all had to deal with cancer in one way or another. It’s an unfortunate part of being a human being. It touches our life in devastating ways that changes you forever. We’re so very happy to contribute to Gilda’s Club through the rerelease of our album Swoon. Let’s keep on fighting this thing. Never give up.” —- Brian Aubert, Silversun Pickups

Gilda’s Club NY was founded in 1995 by psychotherapist Joanna Bull, along with celebrities Gene Wilder, Mandy Patinkin, Joel Siegel, and many other generous individuals in memory of Saturday Night Live vet/actor/comedienne, Gilda Radner, who passed away in 1989 from cancer. The charity’s mission is to provide welcoming communities for people who are diagnosed with cancer, as well as for caregivers and people who have lost someone to cancer. Their innovative program is an essential complement to medical care, providing networking and support groups, educational lectures, workshops and social activities, all free of charge. A cancer diagnosis can be an extremely isolating experience, which triggers many emotions including fear, anger, depression and an overwhelming sense of helplessness. Gilda’s Club NYC believes no one should face cancer alone.

Quote from Lily Safani, CEO, Gilda’s Club NYC
“When someone gets diagnosed with cancer it impacts everyone who is close to them – in many different ways. The daily routine of life now includes doctors’ visits, weekly treatments and unprecedented medical expenses. The new “routine” is difficult to manage and navigate alone. But at Gilda’s Club NYC, we help cancer patients and their families learn how to live with a cancer diagnosis – through our support groups, educational lectures, and classes. It’s important to know you aren’t alone and at Gilda’s Club, you never are. ”
