Willie Nelson has been around so long, it's hard to remember he once wasa struggling songwriter. This disc collects Nelson's first two demo sessions. The first eight tracks are Willie (already singing around the beat) and guitar, laying down early versions of "Three Days," "I Just Destroyedthe World," and "Permanently Lonely" and a stark take of "Undothe Right" with Jimmy Day ( from Ray Price's band) on pedal steel.Session two features Willie and a studio band laying down the first recordedversions of "Crazy" (this is the demo that Hank Cochran played forPatsy Cline) already sounding like a classic, a relaxed take of "I GottaGet Drunk," a heartbreaking version of "Something to Think About"in a performance that's almost Shakespearian in its tragedy and "I'mStill Here," a fair to middling tune that Nelson never recorded excepton this demo version.back to top
