Don't call it a remake-Steven Soderbergh's "Solaris" is roughly half the length of Andrei Tartovesky's 1972 Russian version. And thank god, because the 99 minutes that this movie takes to watch feel like 99 hours. That said, it's master filmmaking, and a return to the kind of internal sci-fi that Kubrick made famous in "2001." Soderbergh and producer James Cameron give good commentary.
