Who knew that John Grisham was really a science fiction writer? Gene Hackman stars as a hired gun who rigs juries with the aid of a NORAD-like command center and a team of computer experts who do little more than provide exposition when the writing gets lazy. Everyone is in this movie: John Cusack, Dustin Hoffman, Rachel Weisz, Luis Guzman, Nora Dunn (?), but they're given nothing to do except overact, the worst offenders being Hoffman and Hackman, two rancid old hams that should be made into bacon. The treacly ending doesn't help.
