The White Stripes are back with the most bombastic album they've ever produced. While revealing the band's roots in American folk music, Icky Thump is an explosive, revolutionary assault that brings together garage rock, every blues style of the past 100 years, nouveau and flamenco.
Reviews:
Not the best year for Meg White. After last year's Raconteurs debut fanned messageboard flames about what Jack could do with a "real drummer," she cancelled a Stripes tour in September due to "acute anxiety" and her porn star doppelganger dominated gossip blogs for a few days afterwards. Lost in the shuffle: this fantastic, rollicking album, which maintained the eclecticism of Get Behind Me Satan without alienating old school fans. Better luck in '08, little drummer girl.
