''The Declaration'' is the fourth studio album by American R&B/pop singer Ashanti. It was released on June 3, 2008.
The album includes the single "The Way That I Love You". Ashanti said during her June 2nd appearance on the television program ''106 & Park'' that she recorded fifty-two tracks for the album, of which fifteen—including the bonus tracks "Why" and "Hey Baby (After the Club)"—were used. - Wikipedia
Irv Gotti's little girl has left the nest. R&B princess Ashanti is "declaring" her independence on this fourth full-length, but not without, ironically, a lot of help from some very powerful friends'"guests range from Robin Thicke to Akon and Nelly. Although this record has curiously been delayed for months now, "Hey Baby (After the Club)" offers reason for optimism; the vintage synth peppering driving the track sound a lot like something you'd hear Rihanna do, and she knows a little bit about moving units. Single honors, however, belong to the epic lament "The Way That I Love You," which begins with a disturbing 911 call, then breaks into looped piano tinkling representative of the decaying relationship that's breaking Ashanti's heart. Don't feel too bad for her; the cheating SOB gets his courtesy of a butcher's knife. Who knew this girl was so brutal?
