Reviews:

When Radio 4 admit they're a bunch of party crashers, they don't mean they're the death-disco band who takes the cake. The only party that matters to singer Anthony Roman is the one that smuggled the president into office, and when it comes to the irrevocable effects of that Republican heist, Roman wants to make sure Bush is an elephant no one ever forgets. With a title riffing off Jacob Miller's 1979 reggae classic "Healing of a Nation," Radio 4's third full-length calls Dubya out for invading Iraq without just cause ("Nation"), creating a culture of fear at home ("State of Alert"), supporting Clear Channel monopolization ("The Death of American Radio"), and basically making all the Brooklyn politicos too bummed out to dance. Producer Max Heyes soups up Radio 4's treble-heavy post-punk into a clubland thump that reverberates like Primal Scream caught in an echo chamber. The narcotic dub sound system and studio-slick percussion transform Radio 4 from a DIY gang of five into a chart-attack Astralwerks dance group-hard to believe all 12 tracks were recorded in a warehouse several feet below the concrete. Roman and Co. are still bent on sounding off a few notes from the underground, sticking bumper sticker slogans over each skittery beat, yelling "shake the foundation!" and demanding that Bush resign. They're just making sure the people on the street can hear them this time. "When Radio 4 admit they're a bunch of party crashers, they don't mean they're the death-disco band who takes the cake.
