Jerry Seinfeld's return to the club circuit is documented in Comedian, whichis as much about the craft of stand-up comedy as it is about the former Masterof His Domain. Seinfeld's return is paralleled by a secondary story concerningaggressive up-and-comer Orny Adams, who has big plans and little patience tocontinue in the clubs. Orny's story is simply one of unbridled ambition, butSeinfeld's homecoming is more interesting. Considering the A-list talent involved,it's a surprisingly honest look behind the red brick wall-not only do we seeJerry kibitzing with fellow comics like Chris Rock, Jay Leno and Colin Quinn,we see him totally bomb onstage (during which a female heckler calls out, "Isthis your first gig?") Extras are plentiful, and include both Orny andJerry's "Late Night with David Letterman" routines, the Jiminy Glickinterviews, two commentaries (including the director, producer, Quinn and Seinfeld)and more.
